It’s not every day that you see someone in your neighborhood carrying a suspicious weapon.
The following story involves a man who was doing his usual morning walk around the neighborhood.
He then spotted a resident carrying what appeared to be a small rifle outside their home.
Unsure whether it was a real firearm, a BB gun, or something harmless, he wondered if there could be something criminal happening.

Morning Walk and Neighbor Pulls Up with Gun
The other morning, I was taking my morning walk.
I have done this for 4 to 5 years and passed the same homes.
One of the homes I pass in my upscale neighborhood is clearly dilapidated and reeks of marijuana.
At one point, I think there was a kid and a mom there, too.
I don’t know the people that live there, and they don’t know me.
This man saw a car pull in front of the house, and the person who got off was carrying a rifle.
I’ve seen one of the residents come home early in the morning, being driven by someone they appear to know and are friendly with.
This past weekday, something similar occurred.
A car pulls up, and the resident pops out of the passenger seat in front.
He gets out with a grocery store bag full of chip bags in one hand and what is clearly a small rifle.
I’m not sure, but it could have been a BB gun. He was trying to hide it under something.
He started thinking about the possible reasons why someone would be carrying gun early in the morning.
Long story short, I am not about to ask the guy why he has a gun in the early morning with no one around.
Maybe because it’s none of my business.
What possible reason would someone show up early in the morning with a rifle?
But what would you do? Is something criminal going on?
Yikes! That honestly sounds strange and scary!
I understand why OP felt uneasy seeing someone carrying what appeared to be a rifle.
But at the same time, there is not enough information from the encounter alone to know whether anything criminal was happening.
I guess maybe he should continue doing what he does but also be more aware of what his neighbors are up to.
