Road trips are often about the journey as much as the destination.
The following story is about a woman who planned a long drive with her boyfriend to visit his parents.
She asked for a short stop at a tourist spot along the way.
However, her boyfriend insisted on driving straight through without stopping anywhere.
Let’s take a closer look!
AITA for wanting to stop at a tourist trap on our drive to Florida?
My boyfriend (35M) and I (47F) are going to drive from PA to FL to see his parents for a week.
He will be driving. We will be using my car.
I will be paying for gas and tolls.
I will also be making up for his week of lost wages since he will not be at work.
This woman was excited for the trip.
He put in for his vacation days today. I got excited.
I said I really hope we can stop at South of the Border.
South of the Border is a cheesy tourist trap.
It is right at the border of NC and SC. It is directly on I-95.
We will drive by it on our way down south.
Her boyfriend refused to stop at the South of the Border.
He said no. He does not want to stop anywhere on the drive down.
He wants to drive straight through with a cooler in the car.
He only wants to stop to take a bathroom break when necessary.
I told him we do not have to spend a lot of time there.
Maybe we could spend an hour to eat and look around.
Now, she feels hurt and disappointed.
He still said no. I feel really hurt.
It is a 19-hour drive. I am only asking for one of those hours.
I know it is just a bad highway stop, but I love it there.
AITA for thinking his hard no is unreasonable?
