A Customer Called Asking Where Her Package Was — But She Already Knew the Answer

Sometimes, the simplest customer service questions can have surprisingly obvious answers.
The following story involves an employee who received a call from a customer wanting to pick up a missed delivery.
She asked the caller to check the tracking number to see whether the package had arrived at the store.
The customer confirmed that she had already checked the status of the package and said it was not there yet.
So, what was the call for again? Lol. Read the full story below for all the details.
Can read but not comprehend
I got a phone call from a customer yesterday.
And the following exchange happened.
Me: “[Store name]. How may I help you?”
Customer: “I missed the delivery driver. Is my package there? Can I come pick it up?”
Me: “Perhaps. If you enter the tracking number on the website, you’ll be able to see if your package is here.”
This employee made the customer understand what she had read.
If their tracking said the package was here, I would then locate it on the shelf and confirm it’s here.
Customer: “I already did that. It says it’s not there yet.”
I took a second to absorb what they had just said.
Me: “Then, it’s not here, and you can’t pick it up yet.”
Customer: “Oh, okay. Thanks.”
Me: “You’re welcome, and have a good day.” I hang up.
Well, OP handled the call exactly as she should have.
She was polite, and she explained what the customer had already read from the website.
I guess some customers just really wanted to hear the answers from an employee, rather than look at it on a screen.
