The Time Schwarzenegger Wrote a Big FU to a California Assemblyman
I sometimes forget that beloved bodybuilder and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was the Governor of California for a staggering 7 years (2003-2010).
Only the second-ever, foreign-born California Governor, his time in office was mixed, beginning his tenure with record high approval ratings (as high as 89% in December 2003) but ultimately leaving office with record lows of 23%.
Back in October 2009, The Governator, as he was oft referred, made an unannounced stop at a San Fran Democratic Party Gala to say a few words. Days prior the Schwarzenegger had threatened to veto all 700 bills Democratic lawmakers had proposed. To say he was unwelcomed would have been an understatement.
Schwarzenegger was promptly booed and one heckler, assemblyman Tom Ammiano, famously told Arnold, “You lie!” and “Kiss my gay ass”.
Days later The Governator sent the following veto letter in response to Ammiano’s Assembly Bill 1176…
