Leaving their toddler can be difficult for some mothers.

This woman shares that her husband was excited to go to a show with her, but she didn’t want to leave her toddler even though they had a babysitter.

She’s wondering if she messed up.

AITA I chose not to go out on NYE and leave my elderly MIL with our 3 YO?

My partner is so upset with me at the moment.

We rarely get to go out anymore.

This is due to lack of childcare for our 3-year-old.

This woman has been reluctant to leave her toddler with a sitter.

I do plan day/early dates with a sitter from time to time, but it’s not great leaving her with someone.

This is especially true during bedtime.

I’m probably too uptight about this, honestly.

Her husband got tickets to a show.

My partner surprised me with tickets to a NYE show.

It’s 45 minutes away from our house.

His mom is in town from another country for the holidays, so we’d have childcare.

But she did want to leave her toddler with her mother-in-law

The day came.

But we both had concerns about leaving our 3-year-old with his mom because she’s not necessarily great as a sitter.

And our 3-year-old was not warming up to her as we hoped she would.

So, they decided to stay home.

I’m also working all week, and I was quite tired.

We decided to forgo going to the party.

We opted to stay in for the evening.

Or so I thought.

Her husband changed his mind.

After I made dinner, he said “Let’s just go. We should have some fun.”

I got upset.

Why didn’t he express his enthusiasm for going earlier?

Now, I already got it in my head we were staying in.

She didn’t want to go.

It’s hard for me to rally and get out of the house late.

I was actually relieved when he said we shouldn’t go.

When he changed his mind, I was upset, and I wouldn’t go.

Now, she’s wondering if she should have just agreed to go out.

But again, I’m tired!

And I’m not sure his mom would be okay watching our toddler through bedtime.

AITA?

Should I have just sucked it up and gone out?

Her feelings are understandable, but I also understand her husband’s point of view of wanting to get out and have fun.

Your children are important, but so is spending time with your spouse.
