This story proves that being mistaken for an employee has nothing to do with your outfit or appearance.
But this case is especially baffling.

First time in IKEA
A couple of decades ago my family got a new apartment, so we were going to different stores and getting stuff for the new place.
One of those stores was a chain that had just opened up for the first time in our country – IKEA. You know, big blue place, yellow letters…
Very memorable colors.
So there I was towards the end of the maze and this older lady comes up to me, holding an item as asking if I happened to know where they had more of that and I simply replied “No”.
I noticed she looked disappointed and that’s when it clicked for me so I added “I don’t work here” and she goes “Oh, you don’t?”, “No, I don’t” and she leaves.
Now at the time their uniforms were these dark blue trousers and yellow polos and I was wearing a blue summer skirt and a red button-up. Oh! AND I was 12!!!
…I was not expecting that ending.
Let’s see how Reddit reacted to this.
That really got me.

She’d probably be mistaken for the manager.

More like 46,080 minutes old.

Another reader chimes in.

But this was two decades ago…

Pay more attention, people!
This could easily throw someone into an existential crisis for no reason.
