She Called Out Her Annoying Coworker After He Wouldn’t Stop Blowing Up the Group Chat With Off-Topic Nonsense

Are you on a group chat for work?
I’m not talking about one that you check in with once in a while, but rather a running commentary where your co-workers throw in any and every thought that enters their mind.
Yeah…I don’t think most people want to deal with that.
But this woman is dealing with it…and she’s over it!
Read her story below and learn about why she finally had enough of this horsin’ around.
I snapped on my annoying co-worker in our work group chat and I’ve honestly never felt better.
“I work at a bar/coffee shop type place and while everyone who works here is great, they all have pros and cons in terms of being coworkers.
One of our bartenders, Josh, is a prime example of that. He’s a great worker and gets things done, but on the flip side he’s that one person you work with that combines their social life with their work life, so they tend to get pretty annoying after a while.
It’s mostly harmless, but at times it can get aggravating.
Come on, Josh!
Case in point, we have a group chat that we use as a sort of bulletin board for work related stuff, and Josh is CONSTANTLY sending messages in it.
He replies to everyone whether it concerns him or not, will randomly send messages about his day, and most of all will crack jokes about whatever it is we’re discussing regardless if he even knows what we’re talking about or not.
We usually do go back and forth with each other about random stuff so it’s not entirely out of place, but when our managers are telling us important stuff and it gets buried by dozens of messages from Josh saying dumb stuff and not even contributing anything to the discussion it can get old.
I’ve never said anything about it because it’s not my place to say anything, I just work here. But it was slowly chipping away at my nerves and knew that eventually I’d have to put my foot down, and that day came.
So yesterday, we had a super busy day and were running low on inventory, so my manager was messaging the chat about having someone go back and count our remaining products so they knew what to order more of.
Being the only person on hand to do it, I immediately went back and started counting for them, sending messages individually per item so they could log everything.
This guy is totally annoying.
Josh, on his day off mind you.. chimes in the conversation with his usual quips about everything we’re talking about without even knowing anything we’re talking about.
I was trying my hardest to ignore it, thinking he’d take the hint and let us have our conversation in peace, but he just kept going.
Not only was it pushing back my messages, but it was starting to distract me and mess with my focus.. so I just went off and said “Jeez Josh, shut up and let me do my job” and he immediately stopped responding and I just kept on with helping my manager like nothing happened.
Uh oh…was this a mistake?
Nobody said anything to me about it either, so I could only assume I said what everyone else was thinking. I’d been biting my tongue for way too long, I’m really not the confrontational type either.. but I gotta admit that it was relieving.
I sort of feel bad because I like him for the most part and don’t like to be a jerk to people I work with, I was just getting really irritated with him and didn’t feel like holding back any longer.
As of right now he still hasn’t messaged the chat, and I’m sure we’ll eventually have to sort things out but I’m not too worried about it.
But anyway, I feel like we’ve all wanted to tell a coworker to shut up at least once in our lives, so just felt like sharing some inspiration for anyone dealing with someone similar.”
