Their Landlord Scheduled House Renovations—but the Creepy Maintenance Guy Refuses to Work When Her Husband Is Home

There’s creepy, and then there’s really creepy. I’m not talking in the spooky Halloween sense of the word. I mean a person who seems obviously up to no good and possibly dangerous.
In this story, one couple is happy that the landlord is finally getting around to having some maintenance done on the home they’re renting. The problem is that the guy he hired to do the work says very inappropriate and suggestive things that make the wife refuse to be alone with him. What’s even creepier is that the worker refuses to do the work when the husband is home.
Yikes! They need to have the maintenance done, but the wife refuses to let him do the work when her husband isn’t home. I’m positive she’s making the right decision, but she’s second guessing herself.
Let’s read the whole story.
AITAH? My landlord is threatening to evict us for not letting the maintenance guy in.
So our house hasn’t had inspections in ages.
We beg for things to be fixed and it never happens, but now that inspections are finally happening our landlords son (actual landlord passed away last year) is wanting to get things fixed.
But that’s where the issue is.
The guy who does maintenance for him makes me INCREDIBLY uncomfortable.
Yikes! This guy sounds really creepy and possibly dangerous.
Last time he was here, he made comments about messing around with my mom back in high school and wondering if I’m just as good at “riding” 🤮 among other suggestive comments that made me really uncomfortable.
Suddenly, this guy is saying he does not want my husband here while he’s doing all the fixes.
Him and my husband have never had a single issue and there’s no need for my husband to leave.
He also wants my number for some reason, which I am not okay with him having.
This is not a reasonable solution.
He’s refusing to come unless my husband is not here.
Our landlords son suggested we leave and get a hotel while everything is being done but the vast amount of things could take weeks.
We may be good on money but not good enough to afford a hotel for WEEKS.
And as creepy as this guy is, I don’t trust him alone in my home. Who knows what he would or could do?
She wonders if she’s overreacting.
My husband knows he makes me uncomfortable, and while we don’t want to be difficult, he also doesn’t want to leave me in that position.
This guy has been violent in the past and aggressive with his exes.
Should I give in and just go with it, or am I being reasonable?
I feel ridiculous but also just can’t help but dread the idea of being alone with him.
She is 1000% not overreacting. The landlord needs a different maintenance guy, one who isn’t a creep.

Let’s see what Reddit suggests.
This is a logical way of explaining the situation and putting the blame on the maintenance guy.

Here’s another good point.

One person recommends getting everything in writing.

Here’s a suggestion of what to tell the landlord.

If I were her, I’d make a point of not being home when the maintenance guy is there, but her husband should definitely be home. I would be scared for her if she’s there by herself, and I agree with her about not trusting him to be in their place if they’re at a hotel. The landlord really needs to hire someone else, or if he’s sticking with this guy, the work needs to be done when the husband is home.
