Man Wanted To Be Friends With His Neighbor, But The Neighbor’s Behavior Turned Them Into Rivals

Good neighbors can make living in a community much easier.
In this story, a man has a neighbor whom he wanted to be friends with.
However, he noticed that the neighbor started becoming increasingly hostile after his child caused trouble with another family.
As an act of revenge, the neighbor blasted his music until 9:59 p.m. every night.
What started as a potential friendship has turned into an uncomfortable neighborhood conflict.

Loud revenge music neighbor
We moved into this house in 2019, and have kids now who are school age. Then, they weren’t.
This dude seemed pretty nice, but also took pride in ‘scaring away’ the previous owners of our home.
Kinda dealt with it, he’s very politically opinionated and likes to spout off about conspiracy theories.
Anyway, the dude was always generally nice to us most of the time.
We were friendly neighbors and never treated him or anyone else badly.
This man’s neighbor got a visit from the CPS.
About 5 months ago, his kid breaks out of his house and into a neighbor’s house and trashes the place.
He calls the police, claiming they were holding her against her will in their house.
They weren’t home. Later, he gets a CPS visit because another person called CPS on him for what happened.
He blamed the neighbor and now blasts music til 9:59 pm daily for months.
He got cited for harassment and lost the court case, with the judge literally telling him to be nicer to his neighbors.
He didn’t give a crap, so now, he plays music louder.
He noticed that his neighbor was finally moving out.
Our other neighbor asked him to lower the bass a little to help their kid sleep.
He refused and berated them.
Last week, he finally has a dumpster brought in and a u-haul truck. It seems he’s finally leaving.
Just wanted to share this crazy story.
He wanted to be friends with them, but it seemed like the neighbor kept acting really badly.
I really want to be friends with my neighbors but he made it very hard.
He also told me that I was driving too fast and could’ve hit his kid.
There is zero chance of that happening. We live on a circle within a circle and 25mph speed limit.
Which I never get over 15 given the turns and length of the actual road.
The neighbor sounds like he was intentionally making the entire situation unnecessarily difficult.

The fact that he kept escalating things even after losing a harassment case makes his behavior especially frustrating.
So seeing the dumpster and U-Haul must have been quite a relief not only for OP, but for their other neighbors as well.
