Imagine living in a rental property where you have the upstairs apartment, and your neighbors have the downstairs apartment. If you didn’t like what the neighbors were doing, would you talk to them about it, or would you get revenge?

In this story, one renter was annoyed that her neighbors were hogging all of the outdoor space, so when they realized they’d finally have to admit defeat on that battle, they did something even more annoying.

Now, she’s planning to do something petty to get back at them.

Downstairs neighbour who rents, like I rent the upstairs, has claimed the entire downstairs “garden”. Blocking the paths with flowers and, most obnoxiously, their sun loungers.

I have to walk around them to get into my door.

She retaliated and so did the neighbors.

After years of noise disputes to their dog and tv, I finally kicked off about everything, including the ridiculous obstacle course I need to navigate to get into my flat.

Their solution, to my bemusement today, was to take their sun loungers and plant them not on the path, but on the communal parking lot in front of the flats instead and better still – blast music from their speakers – AND BETTER STILL – continue to blast it from their tv despite them both being outside.

You see – this is how these people think. “The front path doesn’t belong to me; so I’ll claim the car park instead.”

She plans to get revenge.

Anyway, obviously as they’re sunbathing it’s a nice day.

A perfect day to clean my balcony while their washing hangs below it.

Hopefully, my buckets of water didn’t soak their drying clothes too much.

What started as annoying has become an all out neighbor war. If only they could talk to each other like rational adults instead of being petty.

Stooping to her neighbor’s level by getting revenge is only going to cause the war to continue. Instead, she could do something unexpected, like grab a lounge chair of her own and join them in the parking lot, pretending like she likes their music.

I’d love to see their reaction. They’d either be upset and pack it up, get angry, or perhaps they could make amends and put this nonsense behind them.
