Neighbors should respect each other’s property boundaries.

The following story involves a woman who felt frustrated because his neighbor’s kids repeatedly played football across his front yard.

She had spoken to the children dozens of times and had also raised the issue with their parents on several occasions.

Despite this, the football kept hitting her home and car, leaving her clueless about what to do with it moving forward.

Read the full story below for all the details.

Neighbor kids

We have neighbors who have 3 kids. They moved in a year ago.

Single-family homes, 8k sq. ft. yards.

The boy, probably like 11 years old, seems to believe my front yard is his as well.

He and his friends play football the length of both of our yards.

This woman never had a relationship with their neighbor.

We have a 5-year-old girl. She does not play with the neighbors, mostly due to the age difference.

We do not have a relationship with these people.

Every single day after school, they are playing on their front yard.

5 of 7 days, they include our front yard as well.

She would often ask the children to move their game back over to their yard.

In the last year, I have probably spoken to the children themselves 20 to 30 times.

“Hey, guys! Do you think you could move the game back over to your yard?”

I have spoken to the parents on 3 occasions, when they’re actually outside.

These 3 interactions were due to hearing them hitting the side of my home with a football.

And seeing/hearing them hit my car with a football.

The parents of the children were also hanging out in her yard.

The final time was when they were literally sitting in the yard hanging out.

The parents didn’t even acknowledge me.

They just turned to the kids and said, “Go play in the backyard,” and walked away.

I have lived in many neighborhoods in my life, and I have never encountered this.

Now, she’s wondering how to deal with her neighbors moving forward.

Am I the weird one, or am I right in thinking this is all disrespectful and strange?

I tried ignoring this, but it just keeps happening and driving us crazy.

My next move is getting security cameras installed so I have something to show them.

What would you do? Tell me what to do, please.

Some neighbors just don’t respect properties and boundaries.

I understand why OP feels this way, especially after repeatedly asking the children to keep their football game on their own property.

The parents’ lack of awareness and acknowledgment also makes the situation harder to resolve.

Perhaps some kind of fence might be the solution to this problem. What do you think?

Let’s find out what other people have to say about this.

If you want to host a kiddie football league, make sure the children stay in your field.
