Imagine working from home, but there’s a lot of construction happening in your backyard. You’re renting, and the landlord is the one who hired the construction workers.
Would you talk to the landlord about the noise and the work schedule, or would you start working somewhere else, like Starbucks, until the construction work is done?
In this story, one man is in this situation, and he’s pretty upset about it. Talking to his landlord didn’t help, and he’s wondering if he is actually in the wrong.
Let’s read all about it.
AITA for complaining about the construction around the house and, the noises?
I M(23) Work from home and, live with my landlord F(29) and we my Fiancée F(23)rent the bottom half of the house.
She had informed us a month ago she was thinking of creating a whole new deck on the back yard which we were excited for her.
During the time we did inform her that I am still working from home and, due to my job removing the Office/ not renting out the office space anymore and closing it down early august and, I am officially stuck working from home.
I have not started working part time as of yet and, I did meet with my superiors requesting for a part time schedule which they are working on but they haven’t gotten back to me just yet.
He tried to be considerate, but the landlord and the construction workers were very inconsiderate.
I’m adding that due to informing my landlord via text and verbally I was trying to go part time to make it easier on myself and her on the new build construction for her new deck.
Well they started it without notice and, its been a blazing hell for the past four days. Music playing from 8 am-7 pm, drinking while on the job, arguing about they should not be working without being paid from the boss, leaving a mess in the back yard and leaving exposed wires out excessive use of machinery for example playing with the saw and laughing about it while they are drinking.
Stomping upstairs to use the bathroom constant banging and, a new one was landlord sleeping with one of the workers which I’m assuming is the bosses kid.
His landlord sounds pretty rude.
I brought this up to my landlord multiple times through the week asking if they could possibly work on sawing the lumber in the back where they were supposed to be working at not in front of the home near the basement window.
Overall just today I fond out she has been sleeping with one of them and, has been getting extra work done .
I messaged her if maybe it was possible to get a heads up at all about anything just mainly them disrupting my internet that I pay for and, not allowing me to work .
She got upset and basically said to mind my own business’ and that if I was so interested in her life she should message me the next time she needs permission.
It would be really hard to work from home with all that construction noise.
