Imagine working your way up in a company. You start out doing the grunt work and end up in management. If the people who reported to you thought you were lazy because you no longer do the tasks you used to do, would you believe them, or would you realize that the tasks are just different now?
In this story, one man is in this situation, and he’s not sure if he’s doing anything wrong or not.
Let’s read all about it.
AITA for no longer “working” at the construction site?
My uncle hired me as a day laborer for his construction contracting company.
I worked there for 2 years and got promoted to site supervisor of laborers.
He’s the boss.
I’m pretty much the head of all things laborer related.
I manage about 20 laborers in 2-5 sites.
A lot of the guys are now starting to resent me for not working with them.
The employees think he’s lazy.
I used to clean, move tools, move materials, and other tasks.
I’ve moved to management and don’t have time to work a labor job.
One of my friends, who got hired through my reference is also saying that I’m lazy…
I put my foot down and sent him home. AITA?
Management is a different type of job, but that doesn’t mean he’s “lazy.”
Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.
This person thinks he both did and didn’t mess up.

Another person thinks he really shouldn’t have sent his friend home.

But this person thinks he only overreacted slightly.

Another person points out the bigger problem if everyone hates him.

The transition to management can be tough.
