Teenagers and parents don’t always agree on what counts as having food in the house.
One 16-year-old got annoyed one morning when he couldn’t find anything he actually wanted for breakfast.
His mom insisted there was plenty to make and pointed out that he and his brother usually eat everything anyway.
Then, he told her she could just admit she didn’t feel like grocery shopping.
That comment didn’t go over well, and she told him to buy groceries himself if he had such a problem with it.
Read on to see what he did next.
AITA for saying there’s no food in the house?
Today, when I (16M) got up, I was annoyed when I was looking to find something to eat for breakfast because there’s no good food.
When I told my mom there’s no food, she got annoyed at me because, according to her, there’s “plenty” of stuff to make, and my brother and I eat everything up and then always wonder why there’s no food.
Her sentences don’t correlate because you say there’s stuff to make, but then it’s, “I wonder why there’s no food?????”
He wasn’t trying to be rude, but his mom got upset.
I said, “You can just say you don’t feel like going grocery shopping right now.”
I wasn’t even saying it in a bad way, but that struck a nerve, and she got mad at me and told me to either use the money I spend on ******** on groceries or she gave me a list of things I can make.
I said nothing wrong, and to prove my point, I did neither. I DoorDashed Dunkin’ Donuts just to show her it’s at the point where I have to order food. I don’t think she cared that much, but my point still stands.
AITA?
Wow! It seems like tensions were running kinda high.
Let’s take a look at what the people over at Reddit think about what he did here.
This person seems to think they had plenty of food.

Yet another reader who thinks he just wanted junk food.

Here’s a reader who thinks he was wrong.

It sounds like he may have expected this.

His mom actually has a point here.
Not finding something he wants to eat isn’t the same as having no food in the house.
But then, ordering Dunkin’ just to prove a point made him look even more ridiculous.
If he wants different food around, he’s old enough to ask for specific groceries or help pay for them.
