Neighborhood Kids Politely Asked Her for Money—Then Cursed at Her and Threatened Her When She Said No

This story is a great example of why kids should not be left on their own. I get that there are many working parents who can’t monitor their kids at all times, but that’s why after school programs exist. The kids in this story would clearly benefit from an after school program.
Instead, they’re trying to bum money off strangers, and when the strangers say “no,” they get pretty aggressive.
Now, one neighbor is wondering if she should call the police.

Why are kids in my neighborhood so rude and like to solicit money?
((PSA: I’m really mad and feel so disrespected even to the point where I dont feel safe walking around my apartment area. I’m sorry if i say anything out of pocket))
So this has happened to me and I’ve seen this happen to others (several times) as well but there are kids, ages 8 to maybe 14/15 y.o. who like to approach random strangers, men and women, and ask if they can “borrow a dollar” or even use their credit card to access lime scooters. (FYI Im not gonna profile them so assume all you want)
Here’s exactly what she’s dealing with.
Based on experience, I’ve had kids come up to me to ask “excuse me, hey i have a question. Can you spare me a dollar for xyz”
And i would say “no, im sorry.”
They act so nice at the start and then when you say no even in a polite way, they’ll curse you out, call you slurs, and act so offended like youre in the wrong.
Yikes! These kids are crazy!
A young kid not even 10 y.o. asked me that same question and when i said no called me a b\\\*tch and a ch\\\*nk and told (i assume) brother who was already on a scooter to “run me over”.
He actually attempted to do that to try and scare me.
I just try to ignore it and walk away.
She’s considering calling the police.
These kids werent even 10 y.o. and already acting this way.
I would call the cops on them cause this is just BS, its making our neighborhood unsafe because of these types of kids. And as an adult, you cant do anything extreme like you can with other adults.
So reddit, what do i even do? Ignore them? Report them?Has anyone else experienced something like this?
Where are these kids’ parents? They shouldn’t be left alone running around trying to bum money off strangers for scooters.

It really is sad for these kids. They clearly don’t have the adult supervision they need or the parental involvement they should have. Left to their own devices, they’re clearly annoying if not scaring the neighbors.
I’m not sure if the police would be able to do anything about the situation. I just wish these kids could find something better to do with their time, like a youth sports club or something.
