Ron Artest, who legally changed his name to ‘Metta World Peace’ last Friday (Sept 16, 2011), is an NBA Champion currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Drafted in 1999, Artest has had a fascinating NBA career. Many will remember him for his role in the ‘Malice at the Palace’ (Pistons-Pacers brawl of 2004), but he also won the Defensive Player of the Year the season prior, and has countless interests outside of basketball including: a fledgling rap career as the ‘Tru Warier’, a short stint on Dancing with the Stars, a self-proclaimed actor/comedian, and PETA spokeperson amongst other things.
