It’s one thing for neighborhood kids to be annoying, but it’s another when they keep coming onto your property and messing with your things.

One Virginia resident reached that point after children from the house behind his started sneaking into his yard.

When it first started, it was small things like leaving litter behind and messing with the fish pond.

But now, strange things keep happening to his locked car, such as missing items and water damage after the windows somehow opened in the rain.

He tried reaching the parents, but nobody answers the door. So, now he’s wondering exactly what he should do to make it all stop.

Children will not stop coming on my property and messing with their car

I (M19) live with my sister (23F) in Virginia.

I’ve lived in this house for about a year now and previously have not had any issues with any neighbors.

But starting this summer, children from the house behind mine will not stop sneaking onto my property and littering and damaging or attempting to damage things in some way.

The children seem to have little to no supervision.

It seems to be a house where the children are completely unsupervised. The backyard looks almost like they are hoarders, and I think there are 4 children there.

The younger boys have crawled over our fence multiple times now to mess around in our backyard and have been caught, and they will not stop.

One time, they came with a net and tried to steal or kill, I don’t know which, the fish out of a small fish pond we have.

Now, things keep happening to his car while it’s parked outside.

These kids are 5th-6th graders, so they know better. The older boy has snuck into the side of our yard to drink beers and proceeded to throw the beer cans in our yard, and my sister went out and made them clean up after themselves and get off the property.

Now my car keeps ending up with random changes that I didn’t do.

One day, all the windows were opened when it was raining and covered the interior of my car with water, and when I checked, there was an empty bottle of soda in the back and one of my carpet mats was missing. I know for a fact I didn’t do any of that.

He tried to contact the parents, but that didn’t work.

Then, today, the front seat of my car had a pile of gravel on the floor?? I just cleaned my car and have not gone anywhere with gravel. My car is always locked.

I previously tried to contact the parent, but there was no answer when I knocked despite the sounds of people inside. I’m debating if I should call CPS or the police to get this figured out.

Obviously, the children aren’t being parented or watched over, so I’m more irritated at the parents than the kids, but at the same time, now I’m dealing with damages I have to clean up after when I’m living paycheck to paycheck and in school, so I’m just angry and need this to be stopped.

Wow! It definitely seems like someone needs to check on those parents and see what’s going on.

Since the parents don’t seem interested in handling it, he may need to start documenting everything and involve the police if it keeps happening.

Hopefully, that finally gets someone’s attention before something bad happens to them.
