When you go to a salon to get waxed, you should expect that it will be a professional who behaves professionally while doing the work.

What would you do if you visited a salon for this type of service and, when it was just starting, the waxer snickered and made you feel uncomfortable?

That is what happened to the guy in this story, so he reported the person to their manager and got her fired, but now he feels bad.

To me, it seems like she was likely fired for ongoing unprofessional behavior. Read through the full story below and see what you think.

AITA for getting a waxer fired from her job for snickering at my junk?

This morning I went to get waxed because I have a date with someone tonight.

Always good to be prepared.

Not planning on beign intimate, but if it happens it happens and I would wanna be prepared.

I had to wait an entire hour because apparently only one waxer knows how to wax men, and I was also kinda mad that they charge different prices for men… anyways

Well, that’s not professional.

So, I assumed the usual Grabbing my legs under the knee pose for the waxer to do the needful… and she snickered. Yes, a snorting laugh with nasal flaring and mouth covering.

I asked what she was laughing at and she said “oh just your… uhh… undies… cause of the pattern” (which was a pretty plain checkered pattern so how could that be funny?)

It is easy to see why he would be self-conscious.

I should probably also explain that I have been self conscious about my size since as far as I can remember.

Basically my circumcision was botched as a child and as a result I have an abnormally curved ‘member’ with visible scarring and to this day, pain during intercourse.

So this is why I believe that she was laughing at my genitals.

Talking to the manager was the right move.

After the experience and after I payed I asked to speak to the manager (who turned out to be the owner) and explained what happened.

I then watched the employee get fired on the spot and saw her grab her belongings and run out of the salon muttering something about “lawyer” under her breath.

When something makes a customer feel uncomfortable, it is good to report it.

Was I wrong for complaining and getting her fired because I found her reaction hurtful and insulting?

AITA?

It is very unlikely that they fired her after one complaint, so this was almost certainly the ‘last straw.’

Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about what happened.

He complained; the manager fired her. It was all caused by her behavior.

Nobody should feel bad for filing a legitimate complaint.

These are good questions, though.

He didn’t make the owner fire her.

This commenter says laughing was trashy.

She was acting unprofessionally, and that is what got her fired. He had every right to complain, and he had no control over the outcome.

It is best to just put this incident behind him and move on.
