If you were disabled and had a disabled parking spot reserved just for you, what would you do if someone else parked in it?

While it can be annoying when anyone parks in someone else’s reserved parking spot, it’s another level of annoying when the spot is reserved for someone who is disabled and really needs to park in that particular spot.

In this story, one disabled college student came up with a clever way of getting revenge on people who park in his parking spot or any of the other parking spots reserved for disable people on campus.

I’m a paraplegic student at university who has a reserved disabled space right outside my accommodation (has a disabled sign with my reg. number).

For me in particular this space is great because I find it very difficult to carry bags/laundry/etc. on my lap to my room, and I especially need the hatched space to ensure I can get in/out my wheelchair from the drivers seat.

There are 4 of these spaces, all reserved for specific students or professors with disabilities who live here.

He found a clever way to get revenge on people who would park in his spot.

They happen to be right opposite a little university store and in the centre of campus, making them particularly convenient for when people are ‘just popping in’ either to the shop or to speak to the staff in the different buildings, which the general public seem to think is a valid excuse regardless of whether it will take them 2mins, 20 mins, or 2 hours.

Due to the constant frustration of this stream of people who will ‘only be 5 minutes’, I had a bunch of bumper stickers made as a little ‘revenge’ without the pointless confrontation.

I decided on something most 18-21 year olds would find embarrassing – the phrase ‘HONK if you worship Harry Styles’ with a little picture of him in the corner.

This is funny!

Today as I was pulling into my space, I saw some guy had just reversed in to the space next to mine, meaning he wouldn’t see his bumper when returning to his car and so making him a pretty great candidate (he was also sporting ridiculously sagging jeans and cornrows, so almost definitely not the biggest Harry Styles fan).

We looked in the front of his car to ensure he didn’t have a disabled badge (he didn’t) and my girlfriend got the stickers out, went behind his car and plastered four of them on the back as I was getting into my chair.

We can see the parking spaces from my room, and after about 15 minutes, he came back, got in his car and drove off, unaware he was heading into rush hour declaring his love for Harry Styles to the British public.

Hopefully he’ll get honked a few times before he discovers them.

That’s a funny and pretty harmless way to get revenge.
