A Low-Frequency Sound Won’t Stop Driving Her Crazy—So She’s Determined to Figure Out Where It’s Coming From

Somehow, what this woman is going through sounds almost more insufferable than loud noises…

Just stick with me for a minute.

Because I’m just putting it out there that low-frequency noises can be just as unpleasant as, well, you know.

And she is really going through it!

In fact, it sounds like it’s affected her whole life in a negative way.

Get the whole story below, and see what you think.

Infrasound and low-frequency harassment from a neighbor – I accidentally found something that helps.

“I have been dealing with what I can only describe as infrasound and other forms of “silent” harassment that are extremely difficult to record or prove.

These things are happening.

They may sound unbelievable to someone who has never encountered them, or who simply isn’t as sensitive to certain frequencies, but this kind of harassment is not beyond the realm of possibility.

This sounds awful…

The landlords using tenants against other tenants, the subwoofers and Wi-Fi extenders, and all the other things you hear about when you start looking into what people are dealing with in New York — some of these things really are happening.

So for anyone going through something similar: you are not imagining things, and you are not alone.

I have been dealing with harassment from my landlord for years.

I live in a rent-stabilized apartment, and I’m not doing anything that warrants my eviction — enough said.

She gives more details about the harassment he’s experiencing.

The harassment involving electronic means began years ago, when the landlord installed a camera directly above my apartment door.

I eventually had it removed through Housing Court.

The harassment has increasingly involved the building’s systems.

For example, my apartment sits directly above the boiler room and boiler itself, and I have been dealing with what feels like strong magnetism, stray electrical currents and a strange pulling sensation.

What is she still doing in this place?!?!

I’ve lived here for 14 years and never had anything like this before.

I can barely sleep in my own bed, and I cannot use the heat in the winter because turning it on makes me sick.

The way this building has been divided, together with the condition of the pipes and heating system, has made me suspect that something is wrong with the way my part of the system is connected to the boiler.

I don’t have access to the basement, so I can’t see what is happening down there, and I have not been able to get an independent professional to inspect it.

This also sounds pretty dangerous…

The other problem is the one that finally pushed me to write this post.

For months I have been dealing with what others here have described as vibrations, pulsing sensations, low-frequency pressure, and something that feels almost like an electric current traveling through the walls.

At times it feels as though it surrounds my body, particularly around my sides and under my rib cage.

It can be extremely painful.

There are also times when the room seems to have a low rumble or pressure to it even when there isn’t much that can actually be heard.

She found a way to verify that what he was experiencing was really happening.

I also started having fatigue, headaches, brain fog, blurred vision, light sensitivity, difficulty concentrating, short-term memory problems, dizziness and other physical symptoms.

This is what eventually made me start looking for some way of measuring what I was feeling, so I bought an EMF meter.

That meter honestly kept me sane.

For the first time, I had something in front of me that changed when I was feeling something. It did not tell me what was causing it, but it gave me something objective to look at instead of sitting there wondering whether I was losing my mind.

This is an interesting discovery!

Then I discovered something completely by accident.

I noticed that when I pointed the meter toward where the sensation seemed to be coming from, the rumbling/vibrations or electrical feeling would sometimes slow down or stop.

A few times I also heard my neighbor react at the same time, which made me realize I might be onto something.

Another meter responded differently.

Eventually I bought another meter.

Unlike the first one, this one could be charged by USB.

At first I thought I had made a mistake because it did not give me the same readings as the first meter.

Then one day I had it set to measure RF radiation primarily, rather than electric or magnetic fields, and I was trying to find the direction from which the sensation hitting my side was coming while it was plugged in.

Whoa!

At that moment, I heard my neighbor suddenly scream from the other side of the wall, as though something had hit or startled him.

I don’t know exactly what is happening here; I don’t know if it hit a speaker or another type of device.

What I know is what I felt, what I observed changing, and what happened when I pointed the meter toward what seemed to be the source.

It seemed to interrupt or reduce either the unexplained pain (now I’m almost sure it is a Wi-Fi router or extender), or the vibrations crawling through every surface I touch.

She has a theory but wants to know what’s really going on.

My suspicion is that whatever is producing the rumbling and shaking may involve a subwoofer, bass shaker, or some other device, but I cannot prove that either.

I’m sharing the observation because I want people who actually understand this technology to tell me what they think could be happening.

This is what I wanted to share: don’t give up.

You never know what you might discover after months of trying things that don’t work.

Here’s what she has tried so far.

I spent a lot of money trying to insulate my apartment from these problems, but as a single woman my physical ability to do major work is limited.

I wish I had the strength to properly install some of the insulation materials I bought, for example under my bed.

I honestly don’t know how I got through the first days after this started.

I have found that rubber and cork-type isolation pads help as much as they can.

She needs to get out of this place ASAP!

And this latest discovery was completely accidental.

It only helped with one of the problems, but it gave me some relief and, more importantly, reminded me that I am not completely powerless.

I hope it helps someone else too.

She wants advice and real experience.

I really think we need to start sharing practical information with each other.

There must be electricians, engineers, acoustics and vibration specialists, electronics technicians, RF/network people, building-systems professionals and other technically minded people among those dealing with things like this.

I want to know what other people have discovered, what they tried, what actually helped, and whether anyone can explain the science behind what is happening — or even the physical principles that could account for it.

I am not looking for people simply to agree with every theory.

Here’s what she is looking for.

I want us to compare what we can actually observe and document, share practical ways of protecting ourselves, and find people who know enough about these systems to investigate what ordinary tenants cannot.

How do we change that? How do we bring the system up to date?

What I cannot understand is why the police, housing authorities, lawyers and courts seem so completely unequipped to deal with complaints involving modern technology and building systems.

This does sound very frustrating.

We live in a world of wireless networks, electronic devices, sophisticated surveillance, remote systems and increasingly complicated electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

Yet when something happens that cannot immediately be explained in conventional terms, the person reporting it can end up being treated as though the problem itself must be imaginary.

How do we get to the point where a tenant can say, “I don’t know exactly how this is being done, but this is what is happening, this is what I can document, and this is what changes when I do X,” and have somebody qualified actually investigate it?

Here’s what she recommends.

In the meantime, I think the most important thing is don’t show fear or weakness if you can help it.

Protect yourself. Document everything. You never know when a lawyer, investigator, or someone with the right technical knowledge might finally start putting the pieces together.

Find safe, lawful ways to reduce whatever is happening and respond to it without putting yourself in danger or breaking the law.

She has a message she wants to share.

Don’t give anyone the satisfaction of making you believe that you have no options.

They may double down.

In my case, they have.

But I read this in a comment on another post and it stayed with me: They will make a mistake. And karma will catch up with these sociopathic sadistic people.”

This poor woman!

It sounds like she’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Ugh…

This would be enough to drive anyone crazy.

She is really dealing with a lot in her apartment!
