She Refused to Host Her Friend Again After Remembering Her Loud Snoring — Her Friend Took It as Rude

Woman covering herself with white blanket and feeling frustrated

Some people don’t like lying to their friends.

The following story is about a woman who changed her mind about letting her friend stay because she remembered how loudly she snored.

She honestly explained to her friend that she needed to sleep well, and with her snoring, she might not be able to do so.

Her friend didn’t take this very well, so a friendship drama ensued.

Let’s take a closer look!

AITA for not letting my friend stay at my place because she snores?

My friend Lisa is visiting my city next weekend.

She asked to crash at my place for two nights.

I said yes at first. Then, I remembered the last time she stayed.

She snores really loud. Like, I could not sleep at all.

This woman told Lisa the reason why she couldn’t host her again.

I had to work the next day, and I was exhausted.

I called her back and said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can host you.”

I have a really busy week, and I need my sleep.

She asked why, and I was honest. I said, “You snore really loud. Last time, I barely slept.”

She got offended. She said, “I can’t control it. You’re being a bad friend.”

Lisa got mad at her.

I said, “I’m not trying to be mean. I just need to function the next day.”

Now, she’s mad at me.

My other friend says I should’ve made up an excuse.

My sister says I’m NTA for being honest.

AITA?

I think OP was simply being reasonable for prioritizing her sleep.

While being honest is the right thing to do, I guess this is one of those times where a white lie or a kind excuse could have saved you from unnecessary drama.

But I guess she really wanted to be transparent and let her friend know why she couldn’t host her.

Do you think she made the right decision? Let’s check out the comments of other people.

Short and simple.

Being honest about your boundaries can still hurt someone’s feelings.
