Having fun in-laws is great but it gets tricky when they start getting inappropriate!

This woman shares how her in-laws made unusual comments about her private life and considered it a funny joke.

Check out the full story.

AITA for being offended by a joke my BIL made?

I (26F) have been married to my husband (28M) for four years. Pretty much all four years, we have been trying for a baby, but it has never worked out.

I had one miscarriage last year, and the topic of having kids has always been painful for me.

This is where it gets worse!

I come from a culture which emphasizes heavily on having kids once married, so there have always been whispers in the family.

But I think my family realized early on that it is a sore spot for me, so no one asked or interfered out loud, which I am grateful for.

However, I am now 4 months pregnant, and finally announced to the family that we are expecting a child.

Of course, everyone is very happy, but they all seem to believe that now that I’ve successfully gotten pregnant, the past is the past and jokes about my previous inability to conceive are somehow okay?

UH OH…

So for background, for one year in our marriage, me and my husband were staying at his parents’ house because it was convenient for us.

During that time, the bed in our room was very squeaky (its old and makes noise even when you sit on it), but I never complained. They were gracious enough to let us live with them, so I didn’t make a big deal out of it.

Me and my husband made do with it the nest we could.

After we moved out, my SIL and her husband (late 40sM) briefly moved in with my ILs and took up the same room. My BIL would complain frequently about the squeaky bed.

When my MIL and FIL told him that me and my husband never complained, he said “no wonder they can’t conceive”. Implying, of course, that me and my husband don’t have ***

That’s INSANE!

This joke was told to me by my MIL and FIL recently, and they were both laughing. I felt very violated by it.

I have no real connection with my BIL. We barely speak outside of polite small talk. I am hurt he would make a joke like this.

I didn’t laugh when I was told. I quietly just left the room. Later, my FIL and MIL told my husband I shouldn’t take it too seriously and its just a joke. That I am going to have a baby now so it doesn’t matter anyway.

From my POV, I don’t think he should be saying anything about whatever me and my husband’s bedroom activities might look like, or whatever the reason was that it took us so long to finally conceive.

They are being so unreasonable!

He is a man nearly twice my age commenting on my *** life. But even typing this out, I feel like I’m being too sensitive and taking it too personally.

Maybe because of the miscarriage and the trauma of trying for so long, I am too touchy about this topic?

Maybe from an unbiased point of view, I am in the wrong.

So AITA?

NO WAY! No matter what the circumstances may be, they cannot make such jokes!

Let’s find out what people on Reddit think about this one.

This user thinks this was a mild joke and the family probably didn’t mean it in a bad way.
