40 Stills from Coldplay’s Surreal, Award-Winning Video Up&Up
“Up & Up” (stylised as “Up&Up”) was released as the third single by Coldplay from their seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams (2015).
The music video, directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, was released on May 16, 2016 and would go on to win ‘Best Visual Effects’ at the 2016 MTV Music Awards, as well as a 2017 Grammy nomination for ‘Best Music Video’.
“That song ‘Up&Up’ is kind of our defining credo and it’s about a different way of looking at the world,” Martin explained. “So this video, they just have this whole visual way of looking at things, that I could never have thought of myself. Basically, it just surprised me so much. How on earth did they think of that? They just do these things and I thought, ‘Really?’ It’s so clever.” [source]
The 4 minute music video is crammed with surreal visuals and effects and Imgur user VictorRmzJr created a 40-picture gallery of stills from the trippy vid which we have shared below. At the bottom of the post you can also see a behind-the-scenes video detailing how it was made and shot, enjoy!
