Imagine living in a neighborhood where you don’t have a driveway, and everyone has to park on the street. If someone parked in front of your house, would you be upset, or would you park somewhere else?
In this story, we hear about a neighborhood like this, and one neighbor gets really upset when someone parks in front of his house. Now, this neighbor’s next door neighbor is wondering if he actually did anything wrong.
Let’s read all about it.
AITA. Neighbors complain about street parking
Recently on my street there has been a lot of arguing amount my neighbors about parking.
To clarify many of our houses do not have driveways including mine.
The neighbor seems to have the wrong idea about street parking.
Today a friend of ours came to visit the house and about 10 minutes later our next door neighbor came to knock on our door to ask if the car could move as it was parked in front of their house and they wanted to park.
We went out and stated that no one owns the street and people could park where they please.
Mind you we have always tried to respect their spaces and try our best to not park where they do, though they are not always as mindful.
The street is not private property.
The neighbors argued that it was their spot at it was in front of their house and that everyone should have their assigned spot.
Again we stated that while we do try our best, no one owns the street and you simply find another spot.
While our friend did move their car, AITA for stating what we did?
Street parking is not assigned. It’s first come first serve. OP didn’t do anything wrong.
Let’s see if Reddit agrees.
The friend really didn’t need to move his car.

It’s not like anyone was breaking a rule or law.

It’s okay to be neighborly, but it’s not required.

This person thinks the neighbor needs to learn a lesson.

Nobody thinks OP did anything wrong.

The neighbor is just being difficult.
