New to the Neighborhood…

I just moved into a one-level condo. I am renting with neighbors on both sides of me.

I briefly met the neighbors to my right and see them out on their porch or walking the dog occasionally.

I have never spoken to or seen the neighbor on my left.

This woman was afraid to confront her neighbor.

The neighbor on the left has very bright LED/solar lights set up around the back of their condo that glare into my bedroom.

The ones pointing and shining directly into my room are located on my side of the rental property.

I know, I should probably just knock and ask them to move them or leave a kind note.

However, I am really non-confrontational and an introvert who doesn’t like talking to people I know.

Let alone strangers, specifically for this reason.

She just decided to move one of the lights away from her window.

So, one night, I went out and moved one, as there are 3 on my side, to face away from my window.

A couple days later, it was adjusted back to pointing my way.

So that night, I went out again and gave it a complete 180.

It stayed like that for an additional night, and now, it is pointing back toward my bedroom.

Now, she’s thinking about other options.

My next thought was to move it one more time and then proceed with option (2) or (3) anyway.

Or just skip to (2), place cardboard in front of all 3 lights on my side to block the light.

Or (3), remove them and place them on their side or in the trash.

Am I petty? AITA? I thought maybe they would catch on.

I’m not trying to be the Karen on the block, but damn.

Seriously, who wouldn’t be frustrated by bright lights shining directly into their bedroom?

I honestly think OP’s reaction and actions were justified, given that the neighbors were repeatedly disturbing her privacy and comfort.

While she may have other options, moving or throwing away someone else’s property could escalate things quickly.
