A Simple Saturday Call To Her Landlady Turned Bad The Moment Her Dad Grabbed The Phone

Imagine filling out an application for an apartment you’re renting with roommates. If you had a question, would you call your landlord to ask even if it was a Saturday, or would you wait until Monday?
In this story, one young woman is in this situation, and she calls her landlady on a Saturday. After the fact, she feels pretty bad about that.
Personally, I think she’s overreacting. The real drama is how her dad behaved on the phone!
Let’s read all about it.
AITA for reaching out to my landlady on a Saturday and almost being kicked off the lease pretty much for nothing?
My roommates and I have reserved an apartment to move into this summer.
Yesterday, I was filling out my application and asked my dad to be my guarantor. However, he had a lot of reservations about the fact that he had to share his SSN.
I ended up calling to check with my landlady to see if it was required to provide an SSN.
She told me yes so I conveyed her answer to him and then he asked me if he could speak to her.
Yikes! That didn’t go well at all!
I then handed the phone, but to my horror and embarrassment, he ended up speaking very passive aggressively towards my landlady and hung up mid-conversation.
Then, my landlady called me back to explain that she would not put me on the lease because of my dad being rude and that she is just very stressed out and did not appreciate me calling her on a Saturday.
So I was obviously livid and upset about the whole thing.
My dad ended up just storming out of the room.
Her mom really helped her out.
Thank God my mom was there because she ended up calling back the landlady, apologizing and convinced her to reconsider putting me on the lease.
Afterwards, i ended up texting the landlady my own apology and she called me back to assure me that there was no animosity between us and she appreciated me and my mom reaching out to make amends.
However, here’s where I think I’m the jerk, or at least one of them.
She explains her reasoning.
Firstly, I think I am one for calling on a Saturday.
My mom personally disagrees and thinks that the landlady was overreacting slightly on that front and took out her stress on me.
Secondly, it turns out that one of my roommates’ dad already signed to be the guarantor for all of us (though I was initially under the impression that it was just for that roommate and didn’t find out until right after my landlady initially called me about denying the lease to me) and I pretty much subjected everyone to this whole ordeal for nothing.
I don’t think OP has anything to worry about. She didn’t do anything wrong. Her landlady seems over it. She should just move on.

Everyone agrees that her dad is the real problem.

Her dad didn’t handle the phone call well at all. She’s lucky her mom was there to help her out.
I don’t think OP did anything wrong. The landlady could’ve let the call go to voicemail if she didn’t want to answer it.
All’s well that ends well.
