There are bad neighbors, and then there’s whatever you’d call the neighbor in this story.

She sounds pretty crazy and dangerous, but she also seems pretty smart and sneaky since she has figured out how to be obscured enough on camera that her victim doesn’t have any clear evidence.

The living situation for the woman who wrote this story sounds completely unlivable. She’s finally moving out, but she has so many bills because of her crazy neighbor that she’s not sure what to do. Then, there are all the health issues that could be caused by her neighbor.

Psychopath neighbor has forced me out of my apartment and the landlord doesn’t care

A neighbor in the small apartment complex where I lived was spraying me with what I thought was pepper spray.

I lived there over 7 years and had to deal with her vandalism the entire time.

She was killing my plants, vandalizing my car, poisoning other people’s pets, and generally making life hell for everyone in the complex.

I installed cameras, and this seemed to enrage her. That’s when the spraying started.

It wasn’t pepper spray.

I am in the process of moving out because I can’t take it anymore.

I’ll summarize below:

Last summer, my neighbor started spraying what I think were animal repellents into my bedroom window.

She would do this mostly at night when I was asleep.

The spray is literally everywhere.

These repellents are horrible–they seem wax based–they get into your mouth and burn. The discomfort can last all day.

My whole apartment got contaminated with this stuff.

Then she started putting the repellent into my wash, so most of my wardrobe got damaged or ruined.

I’ve spent hundreds on new clothing and am still exposed so frequently, that my new clothing is starting to become uncomfortable to wear. This stuff is very difficult to wash out of clothing.

My car is full of the repellent too.

At one point I had to go to the hospital because of exposure to a chemical which she sprayed near the apartment’s garden hose.

The spray, which I think was a strong pesticide, made me shake all over and almost pass out.

I was wearing sandals when I stood in this pesticide.

I filed a restraining order and took my neighbor to court.

Nobody seems to take her complaints seriously.

I lost because I didn’t have clear footage of her spraying me or the area in front of my door.

I called the police repeatedly when my neighbor would spray into my window and they refused to help me because of the lack of obvious video footage. I had video of her spraying, but the resolution was poor.

I took my bagged-up, severely contaminated clothing to court as evidence, and they refused to accept it.

The judge did reprimand her, but this made no difference in her behavior.

The issue continues.

My neighbor is still spraying the area outside my front door while I’m in my apartment packing up my things.

I am forced to walk through the spray repeatedly as I load up my car.

My many surveillance cameras still can’t catch her.

Here’s how her neighbor avoids the cameras.

One big problem is she lives on the second floor a few units down from me, and I live on the first floor.

She has hung flags and LED lights in front of her door to keep the cameras from “seeing” her come out.

She opens her door very slowly, then aims for the area in front of my door.

The wind blows the repellent all over my doorstep and the pathway to my car. I have no choice but to walk through it to exit my apartment.

She is positive who is spraying her.

In case anyone is wondering how I know who is spraying this stuff–I have watched her do it several times.

Unfortunately, my front door is isolated from everyone else’s, and is also downwind, so my neighbors are rarely exposed to the spray.

I have called the managing company repeatedly, begging them to demand that my neighbor stop spraying me while I’m trying to pack up and leave.

I found out the perpetrator is not only a tenant, but that she works for the managing company as well.

This is getting expensive.

I have saved some severely contaminated clothing in case I need it as evidence in the future.

One huge problem I’m having with being forced out of my apartment is the time required to clean the repellent off everything I own, pack it up, then get it into my new place without contaminating the new place too.

I have asked the managing company to help me pay to get my apartment decontaminated, but they refuse.

Soon I am going to have to start paying rent for two places at the same time. I have hospital bills coming too.

She’s not the only one who was upset about the spray.

I am aware that my situation is so bizarre, that it seems like I’m making it up.

One of the doctors at the hospital asked me if I’ve ever been diagnosed with delusions of persecution.

He dropped the subject when I told him that the perpetrator’s next door neighbor also moved out because of the spraying.

This other neighbor was so freaked out that she refused to give anyone in the complex her contact information. We had been casual friends. It hurts to no longer be able to associate with her.

She thinks she needs a lawyer.

Anyone have advice on what type of lawyer to call?

Do I have a case with no clear video footage of her spraying the repellents?

This monster has destroyed my life. Everything I own has the spray on it–books, records, clothing, bedding, linens, photo albums…

Currently I spend all day every day with a vile taste in my mouth because of this stuff. It’s really hard to take.

I know she is using deer-off and a powdery spray that seems to be based on white pepper.

She seems to feel hopeless.

Last month I called a company that does clean up after fires, floods, and other disasters.

They would charge me hundreds of dollars I don’t have to come into my apartment and clean.

I’m at my wits end.

I really don’t know how I’m going to recover my life. All I do is vacuum and wipe stuff down.

She’s moving, so the end is in sight. At least there’s that.

Moving is definitely the right thing to do. She probably should’ve moved a long time ago, like when the crazy neighbor’s next door neighbor moved out.

The problem with moving is that the problem doesn’t go away. The crazy neighbor will probably just pick a new victim.

Whatever she’s spraying sounds toxic. She needs to be stopped.
