3D Sculptural Relief Paintings by Gregory Euclide
Gregory Euclide is an artist and teacher living in the Minnesota River Valley. His reverence for the natural world originates from his childhood in rural Wisconsin, where he developed an appreciation for experience in the land. The interconnectedness of the environment and culture has led Euclide to an exploration of how landscape (a way of viewing the land) is tied to the actual treatment and use of land. Euclide received his MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and was awarded two Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants through the National Endowment for the Arts.
Euclide’s most recognizable work is likely the cover art for the American indie folk band Bon Iver, whose second album (self-titled) won the the Best Alternative Music Album at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
In the small gallery below we explore the incredible Relief Works of Gregory Euclide. These three dimensional works of art are a fusion of painting and sculpture, which he masterfully brings to life by adding dimension and depth to his painted landscapes.
Some pieces are framed while others hang freely. They are truly mesmerizing to look at and you can see dozens more on his official website: http://www.gregoryeuclide.com/GregoryEuclideRELIEF.html
