When it comes to negotiating finances, many relationships can fall into trouble.

It’s hard enough when two people merge their lives, but with different incomes and individual financial responsibilities, it can be tricky to find compromises that feel both equal and fair.

But when it comes to the couple in this story, nothing about their financial agreement is fair.

And to make matters worse, she’s looking for more and more.

Read on to find out the financial nightmare that this boyfriend has found himself in.

AITA for only paying half the mortgage?

I rent a house in another town two hours from my girlfriend.

I love the town I live in, and I’m about to get under contract to buy it.

I work in the town my girlfriend lives in, but I travel for work about half the month and stay in hotels which my work pays for.

This situation is about to get even more complicated.

I stay with her for a maximum of 14 days per month, usually fewer.

Three out of the last six months, I have been gone for work the entire work week and just stayed with her on the weekends, to see her.

When I am with her I buy high quality food, cook it for her, and do the dishes.

I also pay half of her mortgage, which is $850.

Yikes! But his girlfriend’s demands didn’t stop there.

She says I should be paying half of ALL of her bills (gas/electric/internet, totaling about $300/month).

I use a closet for clothes and have some tools in her garage.

I repair everything that breaks in the house.

So far I have patched her roof, installed a new dishwasher, replaced two toilets, serviced the AC and heater, and fixed two plumbing leaks.

I feel like she is kinda taking advantage of me.

I can get an apartment for the same $850 with utilities included.

AITA?

His hunch is right: she is totally taking advantage of him.

Not only is he contributing more than just financially to her home, he has his own house to pay for too.

And he’s not even with her for half of the month!

Let’s see how the folks over on Reddit responded to this.

This Redditor could not comprehend why he was contributing to her mortgage.

She should be viewing everything he’s already doing as a kindness, not continuing to expect more and more.

It’s quite clear that she’s taking advantage of him here – there’s no way he should be paying her mortgage while he’s aiming to take on his own, too.

He’s doing so much already!
