Taxi Driver.

“It was the last day of our Maui vacation and my partner and I were checking out of our Westin timeshare.

My partner stayed at the entrance with our luggage while I grabbed the rental car in the parking structure. I pulled up and we started loading our bags.

Here it comes…

My partner gets into the passenger side and I’m closing the trunk and what can be best describe as a “Karen” walks over to me and says “can I get a ride with you to the airport. I’ll pay.”

Shocked and taken back, I have this puzzled look on my face like “lady, I don’t even know you” so she repeats herself and adds “I woke up late and my flight is in less than an hour and the airport is on the other side of the island.”

Really?

And I’m like “uh, sorry but we’re not headed to the airport. We got some other places to visit on the island”

And she responds “oh, I thought you were a taxi driver!”

And I respond “oh hell no, just because I’m an Asian American with brown skin, I must be a taxi driver!?”
