WIBTAH if I told my contractor I don’t accept their patchy solution?
“My husband and I were fortunate enough to buy a fixer-upper earlier this year. Our contractor happened to be a friend of my husband’s.
This got off to a really bad start…
There were an alarming about of red flags and sloppy work along the way but I didn’t say anything unless it was a hazard because it’s a “friend”.
Well, one of our shower floors has completely crumbled despite no use (a cement issue) and it has caused the shower walls to shift about half an inch.
My contractor says they can fill the gap that goes up all 8 feet of the shower wall with silicon and some other material because that’s most cost effective and they’ll be able to get it “close to matching”.
You can understand why she’s upset about this!
I am outraged at this terrible solution.
I called the contractor with my husband to discuss our expectations of the shower wall.
The whole conversation was going great until the end when our contractor stated that they would still be going forward with the patch plan to see if we logged it and that we could bring it up again if we didn’t like how it looked.
Come on, dude!
My husband said okay, but I was too enraged at this to speak. My husband says it makes sense to at least try to see if we’d like how it looks, but I think it’s nonsense and not at all what we paid for.
WIBTAH if I called my contractor back and told them to do it the way we want and not waste more of our time with a solution that I already know isn’t going to look good?”
