It’s quite a statement to say that someone is the WORST neighbor you’ve ever had.

Because if you’ve lived in a few different places, you’ve had to deal with a lot of different personalities.

But make no mistake about it, the guy you’re about to hear from definitely knows who his worst neighbor of all time is…

And he spilled the beans in the story below.

Worst neighbor I’ve ever had – I decided to move.

“I moved out of a townhome that the owner didn’t keep up into an apartment, like 12 days ago.

I haven’t slept more than 4 hours per night since. I’m on the 2nd floor of a 3-floor building. The day I moved in, I was tired and was able to sleep.

In the morning, though, my 18-year-old son said the upstairs neighbors were banging and thumping around until 2 a.m.

This doesn’t sound good…

I didn’t know who lived up there, but as the day went on, there was constant thumping and stomping.

Not like regular walking at all. I’m used to regular neighbor noise: doors opening and closing, people going up and down stairs, talking, dogs barking, kids playing, etc. This wasn’t that.

Around 6 that evening, I went upstairs and rang the person’s Ring doorbell. Took her forever to come to the door (and I’m thinking “I know you’re home, I can hear you.”).

She comes to the door but doesn’t open it, so I introduce myself and try to blame the noise on the flimsy floors (although the apartments aren’t cheap) and asked if she could be mindful of the people living under her.

Okay…

Her response: I have 3 kids and you should go to the office about moving.

I started recording all the noise along with my ceiling literally shaking. But it’s not just the kids, because sometimes they’re at school (even though they’re often up until midnight or 1 a.m., just stomping around).

It’s also her. And she likes to “parent” her young kids playing by the lake by yelling at them from her 3rd floor balcony.

Property management hasn’t been very helpful.

To make this long story less long, I reported to property management more than once, and besides calling the tenant and leaving a note on the door, they’re not doing anything.

They told me I could move to another unit (not like they’re going to cover my moving costs; plus, if I had any other issues in the future, they’re clearly not going to do anything).

I’ve had to spend the weekend at my parents’ so I could get some sleep. Anytime management has “done” anything (call, leave a note), the noise upstairs gets so much worse, like she’s deliberately banging on the floor.

This is too much!

Kids ran wild up there from 10 p.m. to midnight last night. A wildebeest migration is less noisy.

I decided to use the early termination clause in my lease and move. Yes, it’s expensive, but after thinking about it, my peace of mind is more important than the money.

My dad is upset that I have to pay the fees to move, but I talked to an attorney about it and it looks like I’m stuck paying them, since I chose the early termination clause.

I figured it’s better to give them 2 months’ rent instead of staying here, hating it, and giving them an additional 11 months.
