Teen Employee Asked for ID Before a Vape Sale—Then the Customer Suddenly Lost Her Temper

Being asked for ID shouldn’t turn into a full-blown meltdown.
One teenage retail employee dealt with that after a customer tried to buy vape liquid without identification.
When the store refused the sale, the woman insisted she was old enough and kept arguing.
Then, she dumped her purchases across the register and started throwing things at the employees.
By the time she stormed out, she’d left a broken mess behind.
Read on to see exactly what happened.
Customer threw a pack of toilet roll at me because she didn’t have ID
It all started when a customer wanted to buy some vape liquids at the end of her transaction.
I’m 17, so I had to get my colleague to authorize it. She looked maybe 22–23? We operate Challenge 25.
Anyway, my colleague asks her for ID.
Apparently, she didn’t have her ID.
She says she doesn’t have ID.
We tell her we can’t serve her without ID. She gets really mad and tries to tell us she’s 31.
She begs us to serve her anyway.
Then, she got even more angry.
When we say no because she doesn’t have ID and, once you’ve questioned someone’s age, you can’t go back on it until you see their ID, she starts yelling, picks up the carrier bag of stuff, tips it upside down all over the till, breaking a glass she had in there, picks up a pack of toilet roll she had in her bag, and literally throws it at me and my colleague.
Then she flounces out of the store without any of her stuff, yelling about the whole situation.
Guess who had to clean up the broken glass and put her stuff back? As soon as she threw the toilet roll at me, we were gonna kick her out anyway, but she left before we could.
Wow! Imagine throwing a fit like that in public.
Let’s take a look at what the readers over at Reddit think about it.
This would’ve been good to do.

That’s a good question.

Wonder what this is all about.

So true.

Some people really don’t know how to handle being told no.
The employees were following the rules, and the customer could’ve easily come back with her ID.
Instead, she turned a simple refusal into a huge scene and left everyone else to deal with the mess.
Next time, she needs to remember that getting angry doesn’t make the policy disappear.
