Her Father Is Terminally Ill — And Her Boss Keeps Pressuring Her to Work More Hours

It’s pretty unbelievable how heartless some managers can be when it comes to dealing with employees who are really going through it.
I understand that businesses have to keep on chugging along, but these folks should take the feelings of their employees into consideration…ideally.
The woman you’re about to hear from is dealing with an extremely tough family situation and she opened up about why her manager isn’t making things any easier.
Take a look at what she had to say about this.
Dad’s condition is hopeless, and my manager is pressuring me to take extra shifts.
“Dad was just diagnosed with a rapidly progressing brain tumor.
I’ve already applied for FMLA and had to burn about 21 hours at the beginning of this week dealing with the hospital, because they lost track of Dad for a while and then tried to tell my eldest daughter that she wasn’t allowed to go in and see him.
This is a really trying time for her…
Even so, I’m still going to my 10-hour shifts this week.
I have a pile of paperwork I need to finish on Thursday specifically for Dad, and on Friday I had finally planned to go back to the hospital to see him again (the hospital is about 50 minutes away), and on Monday I just wanted to spend a normal night with my husband and son because I barely see them these days.
My manager came and asked me if I could come in on Friday.
I told him, even though he already knows what’s going on, that I would be with Dad.
What an absolute jerk!
Then he started making me feel guilty, saying that everyone else is taking extra shifts and that they’re extremely short-staffed.
I only have one father. I can find another job.”
