Man Saved For Months To Buy A New Computer, But His Wife Wants Him To Spend The Money On A Car Repair Instead

A lot of married couples pool their money in a joint account that they use to pay bills or set aside for savings, but some couples also have separate accounts where they keep money to spend on things just for themselves.
In this story, one man has been setting aside money for something he really wants, but now, there’s an unexpected car repair expense. He’s not sure whether he should pay for that repair out of his savings or out of their joint emergency fund. He knows what he wants to do, but his wife disagrees.

AITA for not wanting to use “my” money?
So my wife and I share all expenses.
I am the money earner and she takes care of the 3 children until they are old enough to go to school after which she will finish her masters program.
Our budget is pretty tight, but we have room to put a little into a savings/emergency fund, as well as a little for each of us to put towards discretionary spending.
He’s saving up for something he really wants.
I currently have an 8 year old laptop, and have been putting my discretionary funds away to build a nice new computer.
I currently have about $750 for that.
Well Ieed to get the clutch replaced on my 2000 civic, which i just got quoted at $1100+ tax.
They disagree about how to pay for the car repair.
I wanted to pull the funds for this out of our savings/emergency funds, but my wife thinks that I should drain my computer funds first, then take from the account.
I think this is extremely unfair, especially considering she drives a 2019 minivan which we are still paying $500 a month for.
AITA for not wanting to use money I have heen saving for a luxury for a necessary expense?

But apparently there’s more to the story than OP originally explained.
An emergency fund is there to pay for emergency expenses, and a car repair definitely counts as an emergency expense. That said, if they’re on a really strict budget and there isn’t enough money in the emergency fund to pay for the car repair, he needs to give up his savings.
They need to get on the same page about their financial priorities.
