Some neighbor disputes fade over time, and some just keep finding new ways to escalate.
One tenant’s life became a constant headache after an upstairs neighbor decided a paid parking spot belonging to the ground-floor unit should’ve been hers instead.
Six years later, that initial disagreement has since spiraled into noise complaints, interference with landscaping, and involvement in maintenance decisions that have nothing to do with her own apartment.
Things got even messier once gardening problems led to rot, rats, and a larger conflict with the property owners.
Blocking her number and installing security cameras hasn’t stopped the neighbor from showing up anyway, so the tenant desperately turned to Reddit for help.

Neighbor’s retaliation due to hearing my work calls and feeling entitled to my paid parking spot
To keep it short, an elderly neighbor has caused ongoing problems since moving in 6 years ago.
It all started with a parking spot.
She first claimed she was entitled to my paid parking spot because her unit is above a garage where I park my car, then complained about hearing me on the phone inside my own apartment and told me to close all my windows (unit is all windows and no insulation) and door (my door is shut).
Her aggression soon grew.
She later began interfering with landscaping and maintenance around my ground-floor unit, even though she lives upstairs, nowhere near me.
Her involvement with the gardeners, cosplaying as the landlady (we don’t have a landlord), contributed to repeated watering, rotting vegetation, and other conditions around my unit that have now become part of a larger dispute with the owners, now involving rats and unresolved repairs.
This has created a lot of unpaid labor for this homeowner, and she soon suspects her neighbor’s intentions may be even more sinister than she initially realized.
I am spending hours, ironically, on the phone dealing with the city, agencies, and the owners because of it, along with work calls.
At this point, I am concerned she is trying to make living here difficult enough that I move, possibly because she still wants my parking spot.
She’s tried many steps to get this neighbor off her back, but nothing seems to work.
I have told the owners in writing that she needs to leave me alone and stop interfering with repairs or maintenance affecting my apartment.
I blocked her number and try to stay as far away from her as possible, but she keeps coming down here and staring at the plants and the grass by my unit like she’s plotting something or seeing if I’m home.
I have this place wired with 3 cameras around the perimeter, but she doesn’t seem to care.
This neighbor is too persistent for her own good.

Why not just call a tow truck?
The gardeners should really know better.
Maybe it’s time to have a talk with the gardeners.
Six years is a long time to stay fixated on a parking spot, but some neighbors clearly have nothing better to do.
What started as a petty request turned into something that looks a lot less like nosiness and a lot more like a deliberate pattern of interference and sabotage.
At some point, this stops being routine neighbor drama and starts being something closer to harassment.
