Capturing the Moment a Soap Bubble Bursts
Fabian Oefner (born 1984, Switzerland) is a curious investigator, photographer and artist, whose work moves between the fields of art and science. His aim is to present the unseen and poetic facets of our natural world and to invite us to stop for a moment and appreciate the magic that constantly surrounds us.
In a recent series entitled Iridient, Oefner uses high-speed photography to capture soap bubbles at the precise moments before, during and after they burst.
In a blog post on 500px he discusses the challenges he faced, including how to light the bubble and getting the timing right.
