José Manuel Castro López does impossible things with stone, manipulating them to his will like it’s putty.

The Galician sculptor is based in Coruña, Spain and his works challenge our perception of an object so intimately associated with solidness and rigidity. In an interview with the Creators Project he explains:

 

“My relationship with the stone is not physical, but magical. It recognizes me, it obeys me…we understand each other. My stones are not lifeless. They manifest themselves.”
