There are things we need from people and if we don’t have them, it’s devastating.

For the woman in this story, her birthday was a big deal. Check out how that caused a rift between her and her partner.

AITA for saying “ it is nice to know I am not your priority?

My husband Ray and I have been together for almost 3 years, married almost 2 years.

2 weeks ago, I told Ray that on that certain weekend, dates included was my birthday weekend.

But he can’t seem to take a hint.

I also mentioned it 3 days ago when we went shopping and Ray mentioned something about those dates.

Last night, Ray said he was planning to go out of state to help a friend with tree trimming on that same weekend. “Are you okay with it?”

I said, “It is nice to know I am not your priority.”

Ray started screaming. I asked him not to scream at me.

The atmosphere is very hostile now.

He kept screaming, so I walked away from the conversation.

Ray says that the simple fact that he asked that makes me his priority and that he forgot our previous conversations and wasn’t sure if I was going to be celebrating it that weekend or the next.

My birthday is the Monday of the specified weekend, so I asked, regardless of whether I celebrate it or not, is it okay for me to spend that weekend alone?

Ray didn’t answer. We always celebrate birthdays, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day the whole weekend.

Here is what folks are saying.

Hit the nail on the head.

It’s not like she made something up.

Red flags everywhere.

True. While not a healthy response, it’s understandable.

Exactly. Poor him.

I hope they divorce. Yikes.
