When you ask for something extra at a restaurant, you have to expect that you will pay a little more for it. Of course, not everyone wants to do that.

What would you do if a customer ordered nachos with meat, but when you told her that the meat is an extra $.25, she got upset and said she didn’t want it?

That is what happened to the guy in this story, and then the lady got irate about having no meat and called his manager, trying to get the whole restaurant shut down.

Some people are just unreasonable. Read through the full story below and see if you think he handled the situation well.

“DO YOU SEE ANY MEAT ON THAT?!” Crazy, delusional old lady goes postal on my manager and I and then threatens to shut down the restaurant.

A couple of years ago when I was working my first job at a popular fast food chain, this old woman came in with her grandkids during a very busy lunch rush with a very nasty attitude.

People are always trying to get something for free.

Her order included a plate of nachos with cheese and ground beef on it. I tell her that the ground beef would be an extra 25 cents and she gets very upset, tries to tell me that she gets the meat for free every time she comes in.

I apologize and inform her that whoever has not been charging her for it isn’t following company policy and that I can’t simply give her free food. She says “fine. Forget it. Just take the meat off, I don’t want it”

He handled the situation well.

I give her the receipt and she snatches it from me, dragging her grandkids off to a table. I was VERY polite during this interaction and thought the issue had been settled.

The manager was not at the restaurant at the time, so I was the shifter leader on duty. Otherwise I would have called on him to handle the situation.

No, there is no meat because she didn’t pay for it.

A few minutes later, one of the cleaning ladies comes to the register and tells me that the old woman wanted to talk to me.

So, I walk up to the table and she gives me the nastiest, lip curled mean mug I have ever seen, holds this plate of nachos to my face and YELLS “DO YOU SEE ANY MEAT ON THAT??!”

Why is she making a scene?

At this point I am dumbfounded. Everyone in the restaurant is staring at us. She then tells me that I’ve ruined her day with her grandkids, who were sitting at the table staring in horror.

She grabs them by the arms, leaves all the food on the table uneaten, and storms out. About 10 minutes later my manager comes back to the restaurant.

I’m guessing that she didn’t give the whole story.

10 more minutes later he calls me into the office and tells me that an angry woman called the restaurant, demanding to speak to a manager, and says “that skinny little redhead” (me) was the rudest, most hateful stranger she’d ever met and that I shouldn’t be working there.

During this conversation, while I’m explaining to him what happened, she calls the store AGAIN and he takes the call. I can hear every word she says because she’s screaming so loud.

She is really going off on this guy.

She tells my manager that if he is willing to hire awful people that he must be just as stupid and hateful and that she would make sure to have his restaurant shut down by calling corporate.

Then she says that if corporate doesn’t do anything that she would “take care of it” herself, and hangs up. All over a 25 cent pile of ground beef.

What is it that she thinks she can do in this situation? They won’t be disappointed to lose this customer; I’m sure of that.

Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about the story.

She went beyond rude and became threatening, and the manager should respond to that. There is no reason to put up with this type of behavior.

Hopefully, she just never comes back again.
