Well, I can only really say one thing about what’s going on in this story…

This is completely ridiculous!

I’m all for helping out family members, but this is over the top.

Check out what this woman has to say about the insane demands that her family is putting on her.

Get started now!

AITA for not driving 30 hours to pick up/drop off my nephew?

“My nephew lives with his dad and its about a 15 hour drive to get there. Then 15 hours back.

This is quite a trip!

Me and my older sister would go and we split it up into 4 days so it’s not all done at once. We would do this drive at least twice a year if not more. This started a few years ago.

So, my sister doesn’t like driving on the highway, so I’d drive because I’m comfortable driving. I’d use my car and I’d pay for gas. To make up for it, she’d pay for the hotels.

At first I was okay with doing it to help her out. But then she started assuming I was going and just made plans, telling me “these are the days we’re going”. And then plans were made so I couldn’t back out.

Is it just me, or is this whole thing pretty weird?

The last few times I’ve been very vocal about not wanting to go, but I give in when I feel forced. Also, it’s easier if I just agree to go instead of causing a whole problem by not going.

My mom doesn’t drive, but she’s willing to go. My dad is comfortable driving, but doesn’t want to go either. So it’s between me and him to drive. And if he says he doesn’t want to go, it falls on me.

My mom and sister try to convince me to go saying “nephew wants you there” or “you always have so much fun”. Or just like asking a bunch of times and being sad when I say no. Like they actually pout at me and just keep asking.

Good for her!

So this most recent time, my sister told me the days and I was adamant about not going. I stuck to it this time.

So my parents went instead. But my dad complained to me before going about how much he didn’t want to go.

Then when they got back, he complained to me again saying how he doesn’t like traveling and doesn’t want to do it again. So of course I felt bad.

I’ve already been asked multiple times about doing the drive the next time. I’m sticking to saying no. They all make sure that I know how much of an inconvenience and a major problem it is that I’m not going.

AITA for saying no and making them make other plans?

Also, flying isn’t really an option. Theres no direct flights and my nephew is under the age that he can fly alone.

My sister has flown to pick him up and bring him back before. But it can be really expensive. So options are limited.”
