It is heartbreaking to learn that one of your parents doesn’t really want to spend time with you anymore.
I can see why Mom is upset, but she is directing her anger at the wrong person.
Her family seems incredibly insensitive here.
Nobody ever talked about repairs.
Seventeen is still a child.
Losing a parent is hard enough without having to negotiate how to grieve.
This mother-in-law really needs to work on her manners.
That doesn’t mean cutting him off completely.
No matter how badly she wants to help, she is not in a position to do so.
