During a casual conversation about Tinder dating, he decided to be honest and share that “he wanted her best friend.”
Although they had been broken up for months, and she claimed to have moved on, the remark triggered a strong reaction.
What started as an impulsive honest moment quickly escalated into major drama.
Yikes! Do you think he should have kept his thoughts to himself? Let’s take a closer look!
AITA Said I “really wanted” my ex’s best friend?
I had a 4-year toxic relationship.
After we broke up 6 months ago, we sometimes hang out.
She has anger issues, I think.
She gets mad really easily always, especially when we broke up and a few times we have hung out after.
This man told his ex that he liked her best friend.
Today, she was looking at my Tinder profile. She was giving tips. So I thought I could be open to her about whatever.
I randomly and impulsively said, “I really wanted her best friend.”
She immediately got upset with me. She left my house and rode an Uber home.
She said to “never contact me again.”
He apologized and thought she overreacted.
I apologized and said it was impulsive.
But she did not care or listen to anything I said.
I think she overreacted.
She said what I said was disrespectful and it was something I should not say. But she says she moved on from me and is already going on dates with other people. So I do not think it should be a big deal.
He explains how he would react if the situation was reversed.
If she said she really wanted one of my best friends, I would not care. I would say, “You should try talking to them.”
But when I said it, she left me super upset. She said to never talk to her again.
Am I in the wrong? Did she overreact?
Now, he’s wondering why she reacted that way when they’re no longer together.
We are broken up, and me saying that should not upset her.
She said she is over me and is not attached. So wth?
Would your ex, after 6 months of breaking up, react this way?
We would also have this same issue when we dated. I would say things of this nature. She would get super upset. She would say I should not tell my GF these things.
Clearly, she’s not yet over him. Well, at least, with the reaction she showed.
