She is clearly uncomfortable and he’s either not taking the hint or is ignoring it on purpose.
To be fair, her mom sounds tired and sensitive. I truly think sitting down and talking could help, if her mom is willing to listen.
Even if they were upset for a very good reason, leaving her at a gas station is just bad person behavior.
Funny how having the receipts was enough to change the entire situation.
No one deserves to be treated this way.
It’s not easy being an introvert or being tired or sad in public.

Her father needs to profusely apologize for them to have any shot at being a happy family again.
She should have called him out and then said: “There! Doesn’t it feel good to have some manners?”
