I pointed it out to my partner and said I was going to pull him aside privately, compliment his coat, and tell him he still had the tag on. She said no, that would be offensive and could make him self conscious.
As someone who’s worked a lot in comedy, I can confirm that just insulting someone witlessly does not count as a joke.
