A little courtesy goes a long way, especially when others are left to deal with the consequences.
This co-dependence needs to end.

You cannot get what does not exist, no matter how hard you demand it.
Protecting her baby is her first priority.
No one in that store will forget the day two customers lost it over something as small as self checkout.
